Position Overview
The library officer is responsible for the effective management, organization, and development of the college library system. The position ensures optimal access to academic resources for students, faculty, and staff while supporting the teaching, learning, and research activities of the institution.

Key Responsibilities
Library Administration & Resource Management
Oversee daily operations of the library, including cataloging, classification, and systematic arrangement of resources.
Ensure proper maintenance, preservation, and accessibility of books, journals, and reference materials.
Supervise circulation processes including issuance, return, and renewal of library materials.
Monitor overdue items and ensure timely recovery of borrowed resources.
Library System & Data Management
Operate and maintain the library management system/software efficiently.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions involving students and faculty.
Maintain both digital and physical library databases in an organized manner.
User Support Services
Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating and effectively utilizing library resources.
Provide guidance on academic references, research materials, and information services.
Collection Development
Coordinate with academic departments for the selection and acquisition of new books, journals, and digital resources.
Ensure continuous updating and relevance of library collections in alignment with academic needs.
Academic & Institutional Support
Contribute to academic quality assurance initiatives related to library services.
Prepare and submit periodic reports on library usage and activities to the administration.
Participate in institutional meetings, academic discussions, and official events as required.
Archives & Library Events
Manage and maintain both physical and digital archives for academic and research purposes.
Support the planning and execution of library-related events such as book exhibitions, workshops, and awareness programs.
Required Qualification & Experience
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized institution.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in library management, preferably in an academic institution.
Strong knowledge of cataloging, classification systems, and library management software.
Experience in managing both digital and physical library systems will be an added advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of library operations, information management, and academic resource organization.
Proficiency in library management software and MS Office applications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational, documentation, and record-keeping abilities.
Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
Attention to detail with accuracy in data management.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an academic environment.
Problem-solving mindset with a service-oriented approach.
Working Conditions
Full-time position based on the college premises.
Working Hours: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
May require additional hours during audit, admission, examination, and reporting periods.
18 days of paid annual leave.
Public holidays as per the institutional calendar.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform any other duties assigned by the principal, vice principal, or administrative officer in relation to academic, administrative, or library operations.
